Barolo Villero 1999

1999

The 1999 Barolo Villero originates from Villero, one of the most prestigious vineyards in Castiglione Falletto, characterized by clay and limestone soil. These elements impart structure, power, and a deep aromatic profile to the wine. The tannins are soft due to extended maceration, making this product suitable for aging.

Vegetative cycle

Thanks to the regular weather conditions, the 1999 growing season was regular too; the values of sugar accumulation were similar to the previous year’s but with a slightly higher overall acidity. We can say that the weather conditions allowed the achievement of a good balance among the grapes different components. We had to patiently wait for the end of the production cycle to better exploit the effects of the temperature ranges for our 1999 Barolo Villero.

Climatic trend

The good weather conditions in the first months of 1999 favoured a regular growing season for vines; the heating accumulation and the available water were optimum.
The rains in mid-September did not endanger the health of the grapes, in particular for Nebbiolo; after mid-September, the high pressure gave rainy days with interesting temperature ranges that certainly will enhance the 1999 Barolo Villero aromas.
