Barolo Villero Riserva 1998

The 1998 Barolo Villero Riserva is an extraordinary wine that embodies elegance and refinement. With its intense garnet color, it presents a complex bouquet of aromas. On the palate, it is full-bodied and harmonious, with a long and persistent finish.
1998 Barolo Villero Riserva is a long-lasting wine that reaches its full potential even many years after being harvested.

Vegetative cycle

The 1998 growing season followed a regular course and was particularly interesting for Nebbiolo and Nebbiolo for Barolo.
The sugar content maybe appears to be slightly below average, but this is considered a positive characteristic for long-ageing red wines such as 1998’s Barolo Villero Riserva; of course, its evolution can only be assessed at the end of the ageing process. In any case, we expect a 1998 Barolo Villero Riserva with great structure and a very remarkable potential for ageing.

Climatic trend

The dry and temperate first months of 1998 facilitated early budding, just like the previous year.
June, characterized by heavy rains, favored the growth of grapes and vegetation, generating greater uniformity among plants and vineyards. July and August, particularly warm months free of botrytis attacks, accelerated ripening.
Later, September was exceptional, with high temperatures and low rainfall, optimal ventilation, all that was necessary to increase the sugar level of the grapes and reduce acidity, in particular the malic one.
We can certainly say that the weather significantly favored late-ripening grape varieties, including the Nebbiolo for Barolo variety for a great 1998 Barolo Villero Riserva.
