  • The farm is situated on the top of the ‘Madonna di Como’ hill, 5 kilometres from the center of Alba at a height of 422 metres above sea level. The history of this magical place is interesting: the Celts who inhabited the area since the 4th century AD worshipped amongst others ‘Como’, the god of feasts; the Romans arrived during the first century AD and the name ‘Como’ came to mean a procession of young dancers in honour of the wine god Bacchus.
The hill, according to the tradition supported by these historical facts, has been cultivated with a special dedication to vines since remote times. The property is made up of around 21 hectares plus 5 hectare which are rented. The soil is a medium loamy chalk with an east to south and to south-westerly exposure.
Of special interest is the cru Madonna di Como, an important Dolcetto d’Alba, produced by the company. The wines grown are: white moscato, dolcetto, barbera, nebbiolo, merlot and cabernet sauvignon. The farm has been totally restored recreating the original characteristics of the building. The furniture is the same as it has always been in a farm in the Langhe. Everyone can taste the traditional cuisine and have a pleasant stay, with all the comforts, in the magical Piedmontese atmosphere of Locanda del Pilone. ( www.locandadelpilone.com)
