2008

WEATHER CONDITIONS

The datum characterizing 2008 as a whole was variability; spring was regular.

However, starting from mid-May there were heavy rains almost daily; in late May, a non-particularly hot but very humid summer started. Luckily, from late August there were 50 days of stable sunny weather, with no significant rain, with optimum results for nebbiolo.

Very fresh and perfumed in the nose, the sweet tannins are well matched with a pleasant acid note in the mouth, giving a very good and persistent structure.

GROWING SEASON

The year was very difficult in farming terms due to attacks from parasites, mainly mildew and oidium. This implied great efforts for wine growers; those who were able to react decisively (thinning of grapes, target treatments)

achieved great results. After variable developments, the ripening of late-ripening grapes was excellent and wine growers who were able to patiently wait for the right harvesting moment were rewarded.

YIELD

The production yield was at least 15% below the average because this was the only way to obtain an excellent quality.
