Vegetative cycle

The alternating weather conditions affected the vegetative cycle of the vines, leading to phases of rapid development followed by moments of relative stagnation.

In the case of Nebbiolo, those who patiently waited for the optimal time to harvest in 2006 were rewarded with healthy grapes of exceptional quality for an Outstanding 2006 Barolo Villero.

Climatic trend

January marked the beginning of the year 2006 with difficult weather conditions, with temperatures reaching as low as -10°C. Between the 26th and 28th of the month, a heavy snowfall blanketed the landscape with a thick layer of snow of 50 cm, followed by heavy rains. Thus, the winter that year was prolonged and marked by intense cold.
Only in April did the weather begin to show signs of spring. May was a month characterized by frequent changes, while June began with cool temperatures and then became extremely hot. Drought and scorching heat persisted through July, but in August temperatures dropped due to cold currents from the North Atlantic, then returned to normal towards the end of the month.
The first autumn rain was recorded in mid-September, followed by further rainfall, which fortunately did not damage the 2006 Barolo Villero grapes as the soil easily absorbed the water.
