Barolo Villero Riserva 2006

2006

The Barolo Villero Riserva, in particular of the year 2006, completed its production thanks to the very robust lands that have absorbed the heavy rains of recent months.
The result is a full-bodied wine, rich in aromas and fragrances, from flowers to red fruits to leather.

Barolo Docg Villero

Vegetative cycle

Due to the changing weather conditions, also the growing season showed a series of phases of fast growth alternating with periods of apparent stability.

As for Nebbiolo, those who had the patience to wait for the optimal time for harvest in 2006 were able to harvest grapes in excellent condition and of extraordinary quality for an Outstanding 2006 Barolo Villero Riserva.

Climatic trend

During the month of January, there was an unusual weather pattern characterized by cold temperatures, with peaks reaching as low as -10°C. On days 26, 27 and 28, a generous snowfall blanketed the landscape with a thick layer of snow, followed by heavy rainfall. As a result, the winter of 2006 was prolonged and marked by intense cold.
Only in April did the weather show signs of recovery. May was a variable month, while June began with cool temperatures and then turned very hot. Drought and sweltering heat characterized July, but in August temperatures dropped due to cold currents from the North Atlantic, then returned to normal averages towards the end of the month.
The first autumn rain came in mid-September, followed by further precipitation. Fortunately, these rains did not cause any damage to the 2006 Barolo Villero Riserva grapes as the soil absorbed the water efficiently.
