Barolo Castiglione Falletto 2019

2019

Barolo di Castiglione Falletto 2019 is a testament to the ever-evolving winemaking artistry. Born among the hills of Castiglione Falletto, this wine is a fascinating representation of the incredible diversity of Nebbiolo grapes.
With its deep ruby color, it captivates from the first glance, promising a unique experience. On the palate, the structure is well-defined, with silky tannins that embrace the palate gracefully. The flavors are a symphony of succulent red fruit, aromatic herbs, and a subtle hint of damp earth.

Vegetative cycle

After the extended winter, the resumption of plant growth was even. The fluctuating weather with not very high average temperatures continued throughout May 2019, confirming a delay of about two weeks compared to the vegetative pattern of recent years, but in accordance with a more traditional trend. In these conditions we produced our first 2019 Barolo di Castiglione Falletto.

Climatic trend

Unlike last year, which was extraordinarily early, 2019 will be remembered for following a more usual path. This is the first production year for our 2019 Barolo di Castiglione Falletto.
The start of the agricultural season was late due to the winter extended into February, leading to a late spring with rains and low temperatures that lasted until mid-March. Unstable weather with moderate temperatures continued throughout May.
The hottest part of summer occurred between the last week of June and the first week of July, followed by days with milder temperatures alternating with rains. Toward the end of July, the second heat wave of the summer occurred, ending with storm events, although intense but not damaging to the vines. The remainder of the summer season passed with mild weather and sporadic, regular rainfall, which kept vintners busy with vineyard management from a health standpoint.

Nebbiolo grapes were harvested in the second half of October and their analytical parameters were “classic,” with good sugar content and an excellent polyphenolic profile, indicating the potential for structured wines with considerable aging capabilities.
