Boroli’s Barolo Castiglione Falletto 2021 expresses the authentic identity of its terroir with finesse. The bouquet is clear and refined, opening on notes of ripe citrus fruits, orange peel and notes of pomegranate, accompanied by elegant floral nuances of rose and violet. In the background, delicate balsamic and aromatic herbal notes add further depth and complexity.
On the palate, it is harmonious and deep: the structure is firm yet balanced by vibrant freshness, while fine-grained tannins lead into a long, mineral and precisely defined finish.

Vegetative cycle

Spring 2021 marked a regular onset of the growing season, with budbreak occurring at the usual time and promoting balanced vine development. The final late cold spell caused no significant damage, allowing Nebbiolo — the variety most sensitive due to its early budburst — to pass through this critical phase without major consequences, aside from a few lower-altitude parcels.
Summer unfolded under stable, sunny conditions, with warm days tempered by cool nights, favouring slow and complete grape ripening. The absence of water stress, together with an excellent balance between sugars, acidity and phenolic components, resulted in healthy, aromatic clusters. Harvest took place at the ideal time, delivering Nebbiolo grapes of remarkable finesse and aromatic complexity, fully expressing the elegance and precision of the Castiglione Falletto terroir.

Climatic trend

2021 was a year of climatic contrasts, yet overall, well balanced, producing wines of notable quality. Winter was mild and rich in precipitation, including snowfall, ensuring adequate water reserves — an asset during one of the driest summers in recent years.

The growing season progressed steadily, with a warm but moderate summer and well-distributed rainfall. Marked day–night temperature swings at the end of September promoted excellent aromatic and phenolic ripening.
Barolo vineyards were unaffected by the hailstorms that struck other areas. The Nebbiolo harvest, carried out between late September and early October, yielded healthy, compact and concentrated clusters, reflecting a balanced vintage with significant ageing potential.
