BAROLO CEREQUIO 2021

2021

In 2021, the Cerequio vineyard confirms its distinctive character, delivering a Barolo of remarkable elegance and depth. The bouquet opens on clear notes of black cherry, rosehip and hints of balsamic herbal notes, woven with graphite nuances and fine spice. On the palate, it is harmonious and vertical, with finely chiselled, fine-grained tannins and vibrant freshness supporting the fruit-driven core. The finish is long and mineral, revealing balance and ageing potential — an authentic expression of a well-balanced vintage and a style defined by precision.

Vegetative cycle

Spring 2021 saw a regular onset of the growing season, with budbreak occurring at the usual time and allowing the vines in the Cerequio cru to face the final late cold spell without issues. Nebbiolo, a variety particularly sensitive due to its early budburst, came through the critical period without significant consequences, with only minor effects limited to a few lower-altitude parcels.

In the following months, vine growth and flowering progressed steadily, laying the groundwork for healthy grapes with refined aromatics — a defining hallmark of Barolo Cerequio.

Climatic trend

2021 was a year of climatic contrasts, with a mild, rainy winter ensuring valuable water reserves for a dry summer. From spring onwards, conditions were stable, with a warm but balanced summer and favourable temperature swings that supported optimal aromatic and phenolic ripening. Harvest, between late September and early October, delivered healthy, compact clusters with excellent concentration.
