Vegetative cycle

The heavy rainfalls recorded during the month of June affected flowering, causing lower fruit set of the grapes (lower number of grapes per bunch on average). This condition certainly benefited 2012 Barolo Cerequio.
Thereafter, the cycle followed its regular course.
Starting from the end of September, the significant daily temperature ranges helped to produce extremely positive quantities and qualities of phenolic substances, which will be particularly evident in Nebbiolo grapes.

Climatic trend

The year 2012 saw a quite unusual winter: November and December were characterized by mild temperatures, with highs reaching 16 °C. Cold weather made its appearance in early February, bringing heavy snowfalls and extremely cold temperatures, reaching -15 °C.
Spring was cool and rainy, but in May temperatures sharply picked up, reaching 17 °C. June was also relatively rainy, followed by the arrival of summer with high temperatures up to 38 °C in mid-August.
September passed quietly, and from the beginning of October, daily temperature variations favored the ripening of Nebbiolo grapes for our 2012 Barolo Cerequio.
