Vegetative cycle

The 2003 vintage started late compared to the average trendstarted behind the average trend, with the buds opening delayed of approximately 15 days; in a short time, however, the blossoming stage was reached at the end of May, in line with average hot years. In mid-June, therefore slightly in advance, veraison started; for later-ripening vines (in particular, Nebbiolo for Barolo) it started in mid-/late July. A quick drop in temperatures occurred in early September, interspersed with moderate rains. The Nebbiolo for Barolo ripening was optimum, with an excellent health of grapes, therefore a high quality level, to which quite a high alcohol strength contributed for our 2003 Barolo Cerequio.

Climatic trend

The 2003 climatic year was characterized by stable sunny weather conditions and an almost complete absence of rainfalls. A concurrence of factors that made temperatures rise up to record levels for the area and exceptionally kept them unchanged for a long period. This is the first production year of Boroli’s 2003 Barolo Cerequio.
