Boroli’s Barolo Classico 2021 stands out for the elegance and depth that define the most balanced vintages. In the glass, it shows an intense, bright ruby colour. The bouquet is complex and enveloping, with notes of ripe cherry, dried rose petals, sweet spices and balsamic nuances. On the palate, it is structured, with tannins that are clearly present yet finely integrated, supporting a rich and persistent aromatic core. The finish is long, harmonious and vibrant, with echoes of red fruit and liquorice. A young Barolo that is already expressive, offering immediate appeal while promising significant evolution over time.

Vegetative cycle

For Barolo 2021, the growing season was marked by a slightly cool spring, with some initial challenges due to frost and rainfall that briefly slowed vegetative development. Summer was warm but never extreme, allowing for steady and progressive vine growth. Temperature swings between warm days and cool nights — particularly towards the end of the season — favoured very good phenolic ripening of the Nebbiolo grapes.

Harvest took place in full respect of natural timing, extending into October. Grapes were picked in excellent condition, with healthy fruit, strong aromatic reserves, intense colour and well-preserved acidity. Overall, the 2021 vintage shows great promise: wines of structure and finesse, combining firm tannins with freshness and notable ageing potential.

Climatic trend

2021 proved to be a year of climatic contrasts, yet one capable of delivering wines of notable quality, particularly for Barolo. Following a mild winter with abundant precipitation, including snowfall, water reserves played a crucial role during one of the driest growing seasons of recent years.

From spring onwards, weather conditions were generally stable, with a warm but moderate summer. Rainfall was limited yet well distributed, while night-time temperature swings — especially from late September onwards — were key to aromatic and phenolic ripening.
