Barolo Brunella 2016 is an expression of perfect balance. Its elegant ruby color reveals a sophisticated bouquet. The late arrival of cold weather caused a delayed vegetative recovery, with an estimated delay of about ten days compared to the previous year. This phenological delay persisted until the end of summer. However, August and September saw a recovery in developmental progress.
The second half of September was particularly crucial for 2016 Barolo Brunella and for aspects that will affect the structure of the wines, especially with regard to the accumulation of phenolic substances. The grapes were all in a healthy condition, and ripening was achieved smoothly both technologically and phenologically, as evidenced by the low malic acid content of less than 1 g/L.
For 2016 Barolo Brunella in January 2016 and the first part of February, we saw mild temperatures and low rainfalls, confirming the climatic trend that was already evident in the early winter. Towards the end of February and throughout March, however, temperatures dropped and rain was abundant, providing a good water reserve for the soil, although less than the previous year.
Spring began with some rains, which, however, did not damage the plants, thanks to average temperatures that were not too high, especially during the nights.
Summer had a gradual start, but extended until the end of September.
