Barolo Villero 2016 is a wine of refined elegance. With its elegant ruby color, it presents a bouquet of sophisticated aromas, including mountain cherry, floral notes, and freshly ground black pepper. On the palate, it offers an elegant structure with silky tannins and flavors that evoke ripe red fruit and a subtle hint of lavender. This Barolo is a celebration of the elegance of the year.
The late arrival of cold weather resulted in delayed vegetative recovery, with an estimated wait of about ten days compared to the previous year. This phenological delay continued until the conclusion of the summer. However, a recovery in developmental progress was observed in August and September.
For 2016 Barolo Villero, the second part of September played a crucial role in aspects that will affect the structure of the wines, especially with regard to the accumulation of phenolic substances. All grapes showed optimal health conditions, and ripening was completed without problems both technologically and phenologically, as evidenced by the low malic acid content of less than 1 g/L.
For our 2016 Barolo Villero production in January 2016 and the first part of February, we experienced mild temperatures and low rainfalls, confirming the climate pattern that had already emerged in early winter. Towards the end of February and throughout March, however, temperatures dropped and rainfall was abundant, providing a good water reserve for the soil, although less than the previous year.
Spring began with some rain that, fortunately, did not cause damage to the plants, thanks to average temperatures that were not too high, especially during the nights.
