Vegetative cycle

In April, we experienced several rainy days coupled with mild temperatures, which favored the appearance of mild blight symptoms.
However, these symptoms were effectively managed thanks to a dry and windy May, as well as careful canopy care.
Although the vine growth cycle had a slightly delayed start, it soon caught up with the averages of previous years, resulting in a fairly early harvest date.
A distinguishing feature of this vintage was the very irregular grape ripening pattern, mainly influenced by microclimatic conditions rather than by the varieties themselves.
As for the 2009 Barolo Villero Riserva, it is undoubtedly a season that holds great promise for aging.

Climatic trend

The 2009 climate was characterized by a winter full of snowfalls and an initially wet spring, which ensured a significant water reserve in the soil for our 2009 Barolo Villero Riserva
During summer, we experienced alternating periods of hot and cool weather, with peaks of high temperatures in the second half of August and little precipitation. September, on the other hand, brought dry weather and pleasant warmth, promoting the full ripening of the grapes with below-average levels of malic acid.
