Vegetative cycle

The germination of 2018 Barolo Villero grapes took place uniformly, without the problems associated with late frosts.
Flowering and fruit set were regular and took place under ideal climatic conditions.
September 2018, following a trend of recent years, offered favorable climatic conditions, greatly contributing to the quality of wines obtained from vineyards with a medium-long growing cycle, which benefited the most.

Climatic trend

2018 saw a start with a long winter and heavy rains that helped restore the water level of the soil, previously depleted due to 2017’s weather conditions. This winter lasted until early March, with temperatures below the average of past years, leading to a slow and gradual vegetative recovery of the vines, which was completed towards the end of the month.
Between the end of May and the beginning of June, a period characterized by numerous disturbances and heavy rains occurred in our viticultural area.
Summer developed gradually, with a significant rise in temperatures starting in mid-July.
Nebbiolo grapes for 2018 Barolo Villero were harvested following the classic timing, in early October, and harvesting operations lasted about three weeks.
