BRUNELLA – An age-old name in costant evolution

Situated at the western end of the Villero ridge in Castiglione Falletto in the Langhe hills, Cascina Brunella is one of the most recognisable places in the area.

Extended in 2006 with a new winery with more modern lines, today  Cascina Brunella fully represents our company’s ability to combine tradition and innovation with total respect for  nature and the surrounding landscape.

Brunella is also the name of the Barolo Appellation Additional Geographic Indication (MGA), whose vineyards surround the Cascina.

Considered as the natural continuation of the renowned “Villaro” cru, which lies below,  Brunella is our family’s monopole, and has always enjoyed an excellent reputation – traces of wine-making in this area date back as far as the 1600s –  due to its optimal exposure and a prevalently calcareous clay soil.

These characteristics are brought out to perfection in Baroli’s latest offspring – Barolo Brunella 2013, the first Barolo in history to bear a label with the name of the prestigious cru, which this year will finally make its entry into the world of wines.

The official presentation of this extraordinary wine will take us to Bordeaux on 18 June, where we will celebrate our importer Mähler-Besse’s 125th anniversary in the company of award-winning chef Federico Gallo of the Michelin-starred  Locanda del Pilone, and sommelier and friend Luca Gardini.

In September, we will once again be crossing the border with the “Brunella World Tour”, a two-week itinerary with various stopovers around the world, returning to Italy on 29 September in Milan.

Eight intensive stages that will allow us to present the new Barolo Brunella, whose uniqueness, despite its young age, we are certain will succeed in representing the very best of our company around the world.
