The 1999 growing cycle also proceeded without a hitch due to regular weather conditions; the values of sugar accumulation were similar to those of the previous year, but total acidity is slightly higher. It is possible to say that the weather has helped to achieve a good balance between the different components of the grapes. We had to patiently wait for the completion of the production cycle to maximize the benefits of the temperature changes for our 1999 Barolo Villero Riserva.
Favorable weather conditions in the early months of 1999 enhanced a regular vegetative growth of the vines; the heating accumulation and the available water were optimal.
The rains in mid-September did not compromise grape health at all, especially the Nebbiolo variety benefited from it; after mid-September, the high pressure brought sunny days with interesting temperature ranges that will certainly enhance the 1999 Barolo Villero Riserva aromas.
