Vegetative cycle

Abundant water availability in 2001 facilitated early budding; from the month of May, thanks to high temperatures, vines showed rapid vegetative development with considerable leaf surface. For Nebbiolo, the flowering phase began in the last week of May, followed by regular vegetative development. The period of instability in September slowed up the ripening of red grapes, but soon the weather stabilized, guaranteeing perfect ripening for Nebbiolo and an excellent 2001 Barolo Villero Riserva.

Climatic trend

The winter of 2001 for 2001 Barolo Villero Riserva was characterized by long rains, contributing to a good level of moisture in the soil. April was particularly unstable, with a sudden drop.
Beginning in May, the climate gradually exceeded the seasonal average, while June and July saw little precipitation. August and early September were characterized by high temperatures and no rain. Thereafter, there was a period of instability with further drops in temperatures.
